Legal
Privacy policy
Draft — this policy is awaiting review by DoorsJA and its legal adviser before launch. It does not affect your statutory rights.
Who we are
“DoorsJA”, “we” and “us” mean the business operating this website at doorsja.com. [Legal entity name, registered address and company or business registration number to be confirmed.] You can contact us about privacy through our contact form.
Information we collect
- Account details — your name, email, phone and saved delivery addresses if you create an account.
- Orders and quotations — the doors, sizes and quantities you request, delivery address, parish, notes, quotations and your responses (accept, request changes or decline).
- Enquiries — delivery quote, availability, bulk, contact and installation requests, including any photos you upload of your doorway.
- Find My Door requests — photos of the door you want, sizes, quantity, parish and your contact details.
- Commercial enquiries — company and project details, door schedules, drawings, specifications and photos you upload.
- Installer applications — contact details, areas covered, experience, rates, references, qualifications, insurance details and photos of previous work.
- Installers we work with — contact details, coverage, rates, job assignments and verification checks.
- Wishlist and cart — kept in your browser, and with your account if you’re signed in.
- Technical information — basic information your browser sends, used to run and secure the website.
How we use it
- to prepare quotations, check supplier availability, arrange delivery and installation and manage your order;
- to reply to enquiries and keep you updated about your order;
- to assess installer applications, check references and contact approved installers about jobs;
- to keep records required for accounting, tax and legal purposes;
- to protect the website and our customers against fraud and misuse.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t send marketing messages unless you’ve asked to receive them.
Photos
Photos of doorways and previous work are stored privately. Only authorised DoorsJA administrators can view them. We may share doorway photos with the installer assigned to your job so they can prepare. We never publish them.
Find My Door photos and commercial documents (door schedules, drawings and specifications) are stored privately in the same way. [Whether these may be shared with suppliers or manufacturers to obtain quotations — to be confirmed by DoorsJA.]
Who we share information with
- Suppliers — only what’s needed to source your doors (for example quantities and sizes; a delivery address if they deliver directly).
- Independent installers and delivery providers — your name, contact number, address and job details when they’re carrying out work for you.
- Payment providers — when online payment launches, your payment is handled by our payment provider. We don’t store full card details.
- Service providers — companies that host our website, database, file storage and email on our behalf.
- Authorities — where the law requires it.
Installer applicants’ details are never shared with customers unless the installer accepts a job for that customer.
International customers and transfers
If you contact us or order from outside Jamaica, your information is handled in the same way. Some of our service providers may store data outside Jamaica; where that happens we use providers with appropriate security safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep order and quotation records for as long as needed for the order and for accounting, tax and legal requirements. Unsuccessful enquiries and installer applications are deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. Uploaded photos that were never submitted with a form are deleted automatically. [Specific retention periods to be confirmed.]
Security
Personal information is stored with access controls so that customers can only see their own orders, and only authorised administrators can see enquiries, applications and photos. Private order links are long, random and should be kept private.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we don’t need to keep it. You may also have rights under the Data Protection Act, 2020 of Jamaica and, if you live elsewhere, the laws of your country. Contact us to make a request.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if our practices change, and show the date of the latest version. [Effective date to be confirmed.]
